anyone using CUDA applications with the M6400

never tried on laptops, but did video encoding on a geforce 8800 on a friend's desktop, think it was using BaDaBoom

 

There is quiet a lot of CUDA app... but they are simulators, or other non-aimed to consumers products. You have some Adobe software... well it's not CUDA per say, but it uses ATI CUDA-like engine which Nvidia supports as well, I think it's using some sort of modified OpenGL or something. You have Windows 7 soon as well. And of course BaDaBoom.

I can't try BaDaBoom, as I have no iPod. I have a Zune.

 

thanks for that good bytes could you try a transcode anyways of a video to like ipod or whatever just to see how long it takes
i know u have the nvs 160m which is what i have in my latitude

which now i think of it might try and install this cuda driver caper and see how it goes i shall report back

 

well i tried installing the latest driver and the cuda driver and it popped up saying it "couldnt find compatable drivers that are suitable with my current hardware"

even though the cuda section of the nvidia site says its supported i doubt the nvs 160 would be much quicker than my 2.8 c2d but it would be nice to play with

happy days ....

 

Even cuda wont help you play these 8bit games..

You need more power to max out hos games my friend,but with time comes great advancements in technology.But on a side not i have no clue if cuda works.

 

huh? They are NO SPECIAL drivers to install to have CUDA. It's already on ALL Nvidia Geforce 8000 series and newer card (and their equivalent of the Quadro series) drivers.

All drivers feature:
- CUDA
- PhysX

Only Vista/Win7 drivers feature an additional driver, and that is the driver for Nvidia 3D vision (the 3D glasses sytsem that Nvidia sells (you need a special monitor to have it working), the system works only on Vista and newer Windows.

In your case you probably installed teh Desktop drivers, that is why you can't install them

i know the difference between the desktop drivers and mobile drivers please dont assume i dont i have been tweaking the driver inf files for years to get better gaming performance , im just telling you what the cuda app said when i tried to install it i assumed it needed it so i tried to install it and it failed maybe and it probably is built into the display driver which im waiting on updates finishing on my latitude before i restart and check it out

 

well i just tried badaboom and it worked on my old e6500 nvs160m getting around 40 odd frames a second set for high quality iphone not bad considering its a weak low power gpu

however id like to see a converter for cuda that could say ... convert wmv to avi or vice versa or any forat to any format would be nice

also a rar password cracker would be very fast under cuda i imagine as i have a ton of old personal files i rarred and passworded a couple of years ago and i cant remember the password iv tried all my usual combinations and then combinations of them .....

ahwell atleast badaboom works on the nvs 160m have fun with it folks

i only hope if i get the precision m6400 with the fx3700 that i can downclock it when not needed like i do with my cpu and

 

I know, you know. was just saying in the case by mistake (human error), that you picked the desktop version. (It also happen to me by mistakes once, I am sure I felt like I picked Mobile series GPU but I haven't). Sorry, thus I meant no disrespect.
