Anyone know when the Latitudes or Precisions will offer better graphics cards?

The 770m seems quite disappointing, I cant imagine how the 160M performs. If Dell upgrades these cards within the next 2 weeks then I can do a return/reorder. But that's only assuming that upgrading this card is in their plans anytime soon...?

Disappointing in terms of what, if I may ask? The FX 770M is basically a GeForce 9600M GT. I wouldn't expect the Latitudes to get upgrades, but the M4400 will get the FX 1700M at some point in the near future. This would be equivalent to the GeForce 9700M GT.

Well for one of the tests in 3dmark06, it ran at 0-1FPS =/. Yielded a score of 5801. Doesn't really make for fun gaming, I know it's a business machine but I'm young d*mn it! I want to game also!

I've run 3dmark06 before, and scored around 4300 on my 7900GS. So, how is it that it ran 0-1fps, but you scored 5801??? Surely it must be a typo.

Have you actually tried running games on the system? 3DMark06 and others are synthetic tests that may or may not reflect real-world performance. The 9600M GT/770M are mid-range cards and they are going to perform as such. If you want better performance, you'll need a beast like the XPS M1730 or a desktop.

No talin, its not a typo. On every other test, the FPS was 18-37 depending on how needy the scene was. On ONE of the tests, it ran 0 or 1 FPS constantly until the test ended. No lie, no typo. I can screenshot next time (I think).

ElectricTool: Not really, but the tests shows pretty poor performance (I expected better). The texture shading was well done but the overall rendering was pretty choppy.

but 3d mark does give a rough performance gauge right? or are there some cards that are under rated unfairly because of their 3dmark scores?

what i understand is that 3dmark cant really give a good answer if you compare similar cards say a 8600gt and a 3650, but for things like 8600gt vs 8600gs its ok?

trying to understand, grateful if anyone could clarify :)

That's because you're running the CPU section.
