It died a horrible death. 2hrs for the tech to declare it adrift at sea. :( In that situation for purchasing mandate, it goes back for a credit and a new build issued which was a month lead time which I don't have. If I still had my old one, I could have re-submitted a re-reimbursement claim but it was sold so I spec'd out a M4400 which they said they could deliver pretty much overnight when pushed. It arrived earlier today, which leads me to another funny thing....

It was spec'd for 8gb and included a Vista Business 64-bit DVD, yet it came with Vista 32-bit Home pre-installed.

I'll just notch that up to them rushing and mish mashing pieces together to get it here stat. I was going to nuke the pre-install anyhow like I always do.

    Pros:

1440x900 is much easier on the eyes than 1920x1200
    This thing is tiny
    No more sharp corners
Easy to snatch up and grab with one hand without thinking I'm going to crush the screen with external force.
    Better battery life
    Smaller PSU

    Cons:

No more World of Warcraft with everything pumped up to max 'cept shadows
(3Dmark06 = 5800 vs. 12,100 for the M6400 with the same CPU in each)
RGB-LED was amazing. This LED is really nice, but still....
    17" > 15.4"
    No Numerical Pad

Screen is flawless, so that's nice.

So far, everything is running perfect, and my crucial files are backed up on work's network drive and at home, so easy to get back where I need to be at all times.

I was using my recently built Quad MSI-1722 in the interim since the original spec buyer had an end of the year cash crisis, but I guess it will end up on eBay soon even though with my luck, maybe I should tuck it away for the eventual proverbial rainy day.

Yet my 5yr old IBM X24 is just chugging along as is my daughter's dirt cheap Gateway MX8711 almost 2yrs later.

EDIT: Picture of M4400 next to 1722

Funny, I was just about to try that out.. haven't played WoW in a while, but with the new M4400 was gonna give it a try and see how it looks. Guess I shouldn't get my hopes up :)

It's perfectly playable at 1280x800 with everything turned on.

Yeah, my panel is the 1440x900 panel, so I prefer native.

It is definitely playable. I sat up last night farming ores (love the new one strike yield), and with distance to ~40%, shadows to zero, textures to max detail and others medium, fps would vary between 30-60, so definitely playable, but there will be some areas or situations where it will plummet into the 20's. My desktop stays rock solid @ 60 no matter what, so I notice it.
