-Any- way to get a coupon or discount on the M4400?

The Dell guy tells me it's not possible and his manager would laugh at him if he asked to discount it (it's at $1647 + $140 tax) because the price is so "low".

Before I do this, anyone have any tricks up their sleeves? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

 

Ask for a price match.

I ordered M2400 from dell after they agreed for a price match with Lenovo T400. After price match, dell almost reduced 400USD from the online price. My specs are,

The total price before tax is 1400USD.

What you have to do is, just configure a Lenovo T500(counter part of M4400) with a similar config as your M4400. Then tell the sales rep that you are getting a similar lenovo system way less than what Dell offers and ask whether they do a price match. If they agrees, send the lenovo online quote to the sales rep.
For me after sending the lenovo online quote, they configured a similar M2400 as T400 and applied the price of T400 to M2400.

 

They do price matches for business models? Ah, you give me hope. I hope I'll be clever enough to pull it off. Any recommended way to bring up the price match issue with a sales rep? And what do you mean "they configured" - they changed the specs on your M2400?

 

I just tried my luck and it worked for me.

I had a configuration in my cart for dell to give me a quote...But dell was not able to reduce the price of the system in my cart. So they confiugured a new system which was same as what i saved in my cart.

 

Alas! T500 is more expensive than M4400.

Afsalva, why did they even bother to lower your price? What did you say to them?

 

Hmmm..First I asked them whether they have any discounts available for M2400 which they said they dont have. Then i asked for EPP discount and that also they declined saying Precision is not available for EPP discount.
Then i mentioned that the current price of my config in the cart is way over my budget and i may go with Lenovo as Lenovo is offering the same config with 300 USD less. Sales rep was telling if we need to do a price match then we need to compare "Apples with Apples". So i sent them a similarly configured T400 and asked for a price match, which they agreed.

My T500 config compared to the M4400 config comes out about 150-200 dollars higher.
