My dell contact has taken a huge package and left dell, so now I don't get any more inside info.

I saw some rumblings on the interweb about Q3 release of the Latitude E6x50 and E7x50 series. Anyone have any info on this next generation? Is it merely a cpu refresh? If that's the case, will there be a quad core option for the E7x50 or possibly a dual core but with iris graphics? Hoping for something a bit more powerful than the i7-4600U in the E7440 right now.

My E6220 warranty will expire in September and my boss has already given me the green light to order a replacement when warranty expires.

Nobody has any info? Given its supposed to be released Q3, that seems like any day now...

Well, a Q3 release date could, in theory, be as late as September 30, 2014. ;)

But yes, I, too, am interested in what the 7x50 series has to offer. As you saw in my other thread, I'd really like an option for an ultrabook that's compatible with the E-Plus docking station with a touchscreen and discrete graphics. Hopefully, they will have worked out the thermal constraint issues...

Is any information available on the next generation available yet? Even an educated guess on a release date? I looked around, but couldn't find anything. Mostly interested in the successor to the E6540.

Like all other notebook makers, they'll probably release new models when Intel releases new chips and chipsets.

Thanks. I should have assumed that, just hoping someone had an inside roadmap or similar. Given the broadwell delays, I suppose Dell is just waiting on Intel and it could be a couple quarters before the right skus are available in volume.

There's a likelyhood that Dell might have a next gen (e.g. 'F series') Latitude/Precision line on the way to counter the new EliteBook/ThinkPad models, with a new smaller dock connector. E series Latitudes and the current Precision models are larger and heavier than the competition and I'd imagine they'd have a new chassis to address these areas.

Well I made a few more calls and while info is slim here's what I got from dell insiders. The launch of the 7450/7250 series and basically all Broadwell based series is delayed due to lack of parts from intel. It was supposed to be released Q3 of this year which ended a few weeks ago, but right now they said it looks like it won't be end of Q1 2015 or more likely sometime in Q2 of 2015 before those models will launch. Basically whenever Intel can get them sufficient broadwell cpu's.

As far as a F series, there wasn't much info, but the few folks I spoke to said it may be released with the next gen skylake (?) chipset. They typically like to keep the docks around for 4 to 5 generations. the E series will have been around for 6 generations when the 7250/7450 is released. So sounds like the 7x50 series may have a short shelf life given skylake is rumored to be released 2H 2015. Maybe we'll see an F series next fall.

So I may hold on to my E6220 a bit longer and wait out till end of next year (assuming it doesn't die on me again now that its out of warranty).

    Hi All,

As we all know Broadwell launch has been delayed by Intel, so Dell has refreshed its Lati series i.e 3000,5000,7000 with the Haswell refresh instead of Broadwell. Also a new convertible 7350 featuring Broadwell Y ( core M) has been launched. Also these new products use Wildcat point chipsets instead of Lynx Point.

Mildly interesting, but, as usual, Dell comes in a Dollar short. If they were offering this with a real digitizer, then we'd have something to talk about.
