Did anyone's Ambient light sensor stop working?

I checked the BIOS and it is enabled but the screen does not dim/brighten anymore nor is the keyboard lighting up when it is set to Auto...

    Sigh...

I re-installed the Control Point System Manager but nothing... Is there any other way to check?

you can check it via DCP
be sure that you did not turn it off via Fn + left arrow [auto]

DCP shows it is on... :( I wonder if there are special drivers or something... I think i lost the functionality after installing the latest version of DCP.

I am also on battery (which enables the feature since it does not work when plugged in).

Well, if it broke after you loaded the latest version of DCP, did you try rolling back to an older version?

If it's working on battery (not quite sure if that's what you're saying), then it's definitely not a hardware problem.

You may have to replace it under warranty. I suggest you call dell asap.

Is there a way I can roll back the old version? I have the dell folder with all of the updates but cannot recall what it was called.

Dell also does not keep their old version on their website. :(

I meant to say that the ambient light sensor will only work when running on a battery and not when it is plugged it. ( on my laptop it does not work at all)

Dell keep their old Versions on their Website

Go to the driver-page of your model
    choose the driver you need
    choose Harddrive installation or so
    click on other versions

    regards
