My touch pad still sux and I just downloaded version AO8.
However, when I go to my Touch Pad settings and click on "version" it says 7.2.101.215 and then Date says:10/22/2008.

    Is that right?

I can barely use this thing, the arrow is all over the place.

I see the same version and date and I had also installed A08.

Have you tried adjusting the settings? I have sensitivity just left of middle and Touchcheck enabled and set on middle.

    My first post!

I've borrowed a friend's E6500 to try before I make a decision to buy. Just curious, what does the touchcheck feature actually do? I've tried it enabled and disabled and there seems to be no difference. So far, the touchpad is the most bothersome thing on this laptop. It's erratic and unresponsive even when the sensitivity settings are adjusted.

Also, is there a way to disable the horizontal scrolling?

The other thing that bugs me is the way it "selects" things as a move the mouse. Is there anyway to disable that?

I've actually thought of uninstalling the dell driver to see if the generic windows one will work any better but this is a borrowed laptop and I don't want to screw things up.

I think Touchcheck is intended to prevent accidental touchpad action caused by thumbs or palms going near the touchpad while you are typing.

There's no way with this driver to disable horizontal scrolling while keeping vertical scrolling.

I don't have the problem of selecting anything when I move the pointer unless I hold down the left button.
