After the M6400 come back from sleep the file STACSV64.EXE is using 30% of the CPU

    Hi what is this file STACSV64.EXE ?, it's linked to which application ?, I am having issues becuse after coming back from sleep (the Precision M6400 notebook) it will be using a big amount of CPU and the only way to solve the problem is killing it, thanks

    That is your soundcard driver I'm almost positive.

    The SigmaTel series are problematic.
    Usually you can use the default windows or Creative Labs generic drivers.

    There's some tools to check what is running (Try "The Ultimate Troubleshooter") and also what processes are doing what.

    I've found it best to not even install those drivers most of the time and use the CL generic ones.

    Sorry I can't help more, as I don't have the exact same rig.
    STACS*.exe usually stands for SigmaTel. You're using the 64 bit I'd guess.
    64 bit drivers will be buggy for a few more years on pretty much everything except Linux Os's. By the way, You can run most CAD apps via "Crossover Pro" and soon, VMWare Player (or workstation 7). VMware player is free, Crossover is not, and might be better. I use linux and run my CAD apps in virtual machines half the time- it's only a hair slower in 3d usually.

    cant be, the precisions use IDT audio right? the m4400 does anyway..

    but yea, it does look like a sigmatel process...odd
