Hi, I'm trying to do some research before I see my sister (and her laptop) at the weekend. She needs to reload her operating system and I might use the opportunity to get her OS on a SSD.

I've done some quick searching and it seems that some people have managed to get a MSATA disk working in one of the internal slots. I'm not very familiar with the terminology though, so I'm hoping someone can clear it up for me.

A couple of users have reported that MSATA drives work in the WWAN slot. Is this the slot for the wireless card? And there is only one WWAN slot? So if I want to make use of this, the laptop loses wireless capability?

    Any insight appreciated, thanks!

There are two MPCIE slots. one for WLAN one for WWAN. Difference is WLAN connects you to your wifi signal, WWAN connects you to a cell provider's 3g/4g signal (i.e. verizon, at&t etc).

If you use a MSATA SSD in the WWAN slot, you won't be able to add a WWAN card and thus can't connect to 3g/4g service if you need to. (very few people actually use the internal WWAN for 3g/4g, most use external portable wifi hot spot)

Oh right - well that seems positive. I guess I can use the WWAN slot for a MSATA drive for her.

Has anyone know of any additional MSATA drive models that are known compatible with the port?

    Many thanks!

Any drive that complies with the MSATA standard will be compatible.

    Hello,
I add a Liteon LMT-128M6M in the msata port,
My bios (A05) see it, but my laptop (computer in W7) did not see it, anyone can help.
What is the next step, my plan is to instal the W7 on it and some basic program, and keep the original HDD for backup file.
