I've read reviews, and this laptop seems to have a history of problems. Thing is I'm trading my PSP (original model) with a 4gb memory card for this laptop. So, I couldn't really pass up on the deal it has a 1.4ghz Pentium Centrino processor, 1gb ram, and 100gb hard-drive. I've just been looking for a laptop that will do the basic functions. However, because of the history of problems, should I just jump ship and sell it and buy a different laptop?

There's honestly nothing wrong with them. I mean, they aren't the most durable things in the world, but but I've got relatives who have been using D600s for three to four years now, no problems. It's just like any other laptop; most work fine and will keep working fine if you take care of 'em, but there are some duds. I'm not going to bother listing the common issues; if yours is working when you get it, it's probably fine; otherwise you should complain.

Well, the previous owner just refurbed it, so something must of been wrong with it before. I've read quite a bit of reviews where the laptop will just stop booting up randomly, which worries me. Also have read alot of problems with the motherboard. We'll see how it goes I'm supposed to get it tomorrow morning.

The refurbed MB's and other parts solved many of the early problems with the D600s and D610s. They are nice machines if its been taken care of, and case/replacement parts are easy to come by online if you should need to refurb again downstream.

Inspect the hinges, the LCD and the overall case carefully, then make sure that there's an OS on it that you can see boot successfully, and check device manager for any wierdness there - You should be OK if all of those things check out.

I'd highly reccommend you adding Bluetooth to it - The chip is SUPER easy to install, and adds a lot of nice features. The cards can be had online for around $15 and its right under the battery to install.

    Good luck!

our company has a ton of D600's and none of them are currently in the 'scrap' heap. They are all still out there in service.

Just got my Dell D600, it's sweet. Typing this message right now with it, and it's going to take some time to get used to. This keyboard isn't quite the best. Laptop overall is in great condition, and is really quiet. But man when you stick a CD in, it revs up like a motorcycle. The specs are 1.7ghz pentium m centrino, 1gb ram, and a 100gb hard drive. I may take pics later, its a pretty nice looking laptop for its age.

So, I've run into a problem. I tried playing starcraft on my Dell D600 but it plays in a small screen in the middle of my laptop. I tried pressing alt+enter to make it full screen but it won't work. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do.

Ok, so I fixed the problem somewhat. I went into the BIOS and enabled video expansion. Then when I loaded up Starcraft it went into fullscreen but it was a bit blurry. So I checked the resolution of the video card and it was set to 1024x768. So, then I set the resolution to max and it made the screen small again on Starcraft. Is there any way around this problem?
