"With the 6-cell battery, the E4300 achieved, in the BatteryEaters Readers Test, a maximum time of 397 minutes, which is very good. However, under heavy CPU usage, the laptop only lasted for a scarce 88 minutes in the Test"

    oh my god !!! :|
the batteries for the E4300 lasted only 88 minutes under heavy CPU usage :S !!

That suggests what I found the with U7600 ULV CPU applies also to the newer SP series: when under load these CPUs consume as much power as normal mobile CPUs running at the same speed.

Undervolting the CPU will help, but the real work-around is to avoid doing anything CPU-intensive when running off battery.

Yep what John said. I was very disappointing by the E4300's battery life. I gave mine up because of it. The E6400 i was using had about the same battery life as the E4300. Sad but true.

The Battery slice on the E4300 added about 2 hours but that is all, not impressed.

The Cheap Acer i have in my sig (ok it is a core solo) lasts for 8 hours on the stock battery....

The Lenovo X200 and X200s (i had a x200s) lasts in the area of 7 hours + with the extended battery. I still have yet to understand why Dell cannot do the same.
