    Hi,

I have a new 7730 where the fingerprint reader rarely works. I contacted Dell and they wanted to replace the palmrest right away. I had another 7730 which had the same problem. Anyone out there have this computer and have a reliable reader?

When it did work, sometimes it worked with a hard press. Other times with a soft touch. Wet or dry didn't make any difference. When storing the fingerprint, sometimes it would be successful while other times I had to start over since it couldn't finish. I have 3 fingers stored in it

Are you waiting long enough when doing a scan? You have to hold your finger still on there for about three seconds. (It is not super quick like the reader on i.e. iPhone 8.) You do not have to press hard.

I have had Precision M6700, M4800, 7510, and 7530 all seemingly with basically the same fingerprint reader and it has been working fine for me. Took a bit at the beginning to "learn" how to use it right though.

I sure am. When it does work it only takes a second or 2. I just deleted my finger prints and scanned 2 fingers in again. It doesn't work on 1 finger and worked 4 our of 6 times on the 2nd finger.

It sure isn't as reliable as the reader on my iphone.
