Today I'm happy to announce that the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 & RTX 5000 are available for purchase on the Precision 7540.

    Happy shopping.

Thanks for dropping by to let us know. (We saw this coming.)
    Questions:
How does power work with this configuration? Are you shipping these machines with 240W power adapters?
Is there any difference in performance expected between the 7540 RTX 4000/5000 and the same cards in the 7740?

    Thanks.

    [Edit]
Did some checking. The cards are a bit cheaper in the 7540 than they are in the 7740.

Due to this being a 15", there is no way to run these at full power like the same offerings on the 17". On 17" these run at 100W & 110W for the 4000 & 5000. On the 15" these run at 80W. This is still higher than Lenovo runs theirs at. Theirs runs at 70W.

    @Dell-Mano_G
Will both dell precision 7540 and 7740 get a better webcam ?
The current one is 720p, is 1080p a possible option in the near future ?
Hp is the only brand at the moment to offer 1080p webcam for zbook 15/17 g6.

According to latest p53 review by notebookcheck

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenov...n-with-a-lot-of-GPU-performance.442599.0.html

"the information provided to us, the slowest, 80-watt model of the normal RTX 5000 (non Max-Q) is installed. An overview of the various different versions can be found on our RTX 5000 GPU page. In a nutshell: Only the core clock is different and in our case ranges from 600 MHz (base) to 1,350 MHz (boost). However, users have no reason to worry about the theoretical values too much, since the GPU almost always runs at a minimum of 1,350 MHz in pure GPU benchmarks and at at least 1,450 MHz in combined GPU benchmarks; there was even a 1,770 MHz peak. Thus, the RTX 5000 is able to run faster as long as there is sufficient cooling."

    P53 has 230W psu

So i think on 7540 we will see these same exact screenshots taken by users with rtx4000 and rtx 5000 on their thinkpad p53

Thanks for confirming, can you also confirm if the RTX 3000 runs at the same speed in the 7540 and 7740?

I had access to a HP Z book recently and it was clocked significantly lower than the same card in the 7740, in some tasks actually underperfoming a Quadro T2000 which had much higher clocks.

clock and memory speed differences for the RTX 4000 and 5000 between the 7540 and 7740 might help people compare rather than just power also?

This already confirmed in the 7540/7740 thread from users who have each; they have the same power limit and clock speed.

Rated clock speeds don't matter that much since Pascal as the GPU will go above even the boost clock as long as there is thermal headroom (up to the power limit, but then the clock speed would depend on what type of load is running). I think we'll wait for people to actually get a system with the card and do some measurements.

Oh no, I ordered my Precision 7540 with RTX3000 on 14.11.2019. I tried cancelling today online but I got no response from the site.
I hope the cancellation over phone will work out, dell representative told me to wait some hours and see if cancellation is done.

Hi @Dell-Mano_G, a user at the 51NB forums have noted that the dimensions of the RTX 4000 in the Precision 7540 have changed, and are noticeably different from that of the RTX 3000 and lower cards, as seen below:

How true is this? Does this mean different configurations of the Precision 7540 receive different motherboards too?

    Hi

Could you just confirm this please? Am I right in thinking that there are 3 versions of the RTX 4000?

    1. RTX 4000 (for desktops) - 160W
    2. RTX 4000 Mobile (for laptops) - 100W (as you've said above), or 110W (as I've read elsewhere)?
    3. RTX 4000 Max-Q (for laptops) - 80W

If that's right, is it the RTX 4000 Mobile that's in the 7740?

    Many thanks
