I am planning to buy a dell vostro 1520 laptop but I am not sure if I can go for a 6 cell or 9 cell battery. Will the laptop be projected at the back side if it is loaded with a 9 cell battery? Mine is 240v input current so should I go for a 65w ac adapter or a 90w ac adapter? Can I go for a 6 cell battery with 90w adapter or a 6 cell battery with 65w adapter? could anyone plz give me comparision? thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that the photo here shows the 6 cell battery. Therefore the 9 cell would stick out at the back by about 3/4" or 2cm.

The appropriate power supply depends on whether you integrated (Intel) or dedicated graphics. The latter uses more power and will need the 90W PSU. Usually the Dell BIOS detects the PSU power rating and, if it thinks the power is not enough, it will slow down the computer's performance.

    Thanks for your reply John,
It's integrated (Intel) 4500 MHD. Now I prefer 6 cell battery because I dont want anything projected out of the laptop case which may give an odd look. Plz clarify one more thing, i.e., if I use a 6 cell battery, can I go for a 90w ac adapter? Will it match and does'nt affect the battery life? or do you suggest to use 6 cell battery with 65w adapter. What's the difference in using a 65w and a 90w adapter. As mentioned earlier my input voltage from mains is 240v.

The bigger PSU is no problem (except for being slightly larger to carry about).

The computer only uses the power it needs: Most of the time my E6400 is only using about 20 to 25W.
