    I have a few E7440's running off the Dell E-Port replicators http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=331-6307

We have just upgraded some of the to 4K monitors and trying to connect via the DP connectors on the replicators. When we use the port replicators we get no display signal on the monitors but when we plug the DP cables directly into the laptops we get a signal and full 4K resolution.

Do the port replicators support 4K video or do we need to upgrade them?

The replicator should be able to support 4K. M6700 owners have definitely been capable of driving 4K displays with the dock. I assume this behavior is generalized to multiple port replicators and not just one. Do you have access to other Dell laptop models that you could try just to make sure it isn't a quirk of the 7440 with those docks. Also, have you tried the displayport connectors on those docks before?

So note there are at least two versions of this dock. A modern one which supports DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0 and the legacy one. Do these docks have USB 3.0? (And thus DP 1.2)? If not, that may be the culprit.

Yes, there are 2 USB 3.0 ports located under the ethernet port on the rear of the replicators and 3 x USB2.0 on the side.

This behaviour has been common among all the replicators I have tried so far. This is the first time we've used DP.

We have some e7240's I can test with too.

Hmm, that is strange, that family of docks definitely does 4K with the M6700, so I don't see why it wouldn't with the E7440.

You could ask in the M6700 thread if anyone has had success with the same docking station model you are using. I know for sure, that someone with the bigger dock of the same generation was able to drive two 4K displays.
