32 bit or 64 bit

    on my dell vostro 1700 how do i tell what it is?
    what re the basics of having 32 or 64?

    Right Click on My Computer and select Properties. It should say Vista 32 or 64 bit. Advantage of 64 bit is u can use 4gb or more RAM. If using scientific software, you may get better performance. Otherwise the same as in 32bit for day to day activities. Downside is that some software or drivers might not be compatible. Use 32bit if you dont need 4gb ram.

    It all depends on what processor you have running.

    Most of the latest processors run 64 bit.

    Probably better to say that most of the latest processors can run 64 bit.
