    Hi,

How would I find out if the Dell Image Restore/Recovery Partition was still present on a Dell Latitude D630?

I am going to look at the machine with a view to purchase it and the vendor states the HDD is 148gb but the service tag factory configuration indicates 160gb. The missing 12gb tends to make me think the restore/recovery partition may still be intact?

Were the D630's all shipped with a recovery partition irrespective of the operating system, ie, XP or Vista or was it O/S related?

    Thx for any help.

    Rgds

It depended on whether the customer who made the order, selected the recovery partition option on the online configurator.

If your planning to go and see the machine in person (which your wording suggests) there's an easy way to tell (if the system was factory configured with Vista)

Open Computer from the start menu. If you see two entries under "Hard disk drives" and one is labeled "Recovery" then you have the partition.

In windows XP, it's a bit more tricky, you have to go into the restore inteface. To do this, start the computer and as soon as you see the "Dell" logo hold the "CTRL" key and press "F11" Once you see the recovery interface, simply cancel out.
