i've been on the phone with dell canada and they don't offer any discount on these models, absolutely none! I've challenged them on various accounts and they just woulnd't give me even a cent off.

    1. They wouldnt match US price.
    2. They wouldnt give free ram upgrades
    3. They wouldnt give discounts for university students

They said 50 dollars free on financing, but I wanted to pay in full as it is to their advantage to receive a full payment.

Whats the deal? How do you guys do it?

Admit it...we're smarter than you :D...

    I'm kidding.

If they won't lower the price any, I'd suggest looking up the HP 6930p and Lenovo T400. Both of them compete directly with the E6400, and if you find they have lower prices then perhaps Dell would budge a little bit.

Also, don't ask for any price discounts until AFTER they give you the final number on the price. Then be "shocked," and mention the T400 and 6930p aren't as expensive. See what they do then.

Most of the time in the US Dell Sales reps usually can nick a few percent off a notebook price if that is what it takes to make a sale.

If you still cannot get a discount, you might want to consider shipping the notebook to a trusted friend in the US or cross the border for a little while. But then you'd need to factor in travel costs, and potential taxes when you return with the notebook.

Its much easier here in the US of A. Im shocked that they dont offer student discounts, which must be a canadian thing, hence me saying move out (joke).

Any friends or family in US?

I think I also got a good rep! Paypal me 10$ and I'll give you his contact info lol.

Seriously, I just asked him first if I could give his email address here by PM. As soon as I get his reply i'll let you know and just send me a PM. He was pretty fun to deal with.

And people remember; there is nothing to do with the base price. Just play on the upgrades. They can shove off 25-30% most upgrades (screen, RAM, HDD, ODD, webcam, etc...)
