I bought a Inspiron 1525, and I'm loving it. But one thing I noticed about the LCD is it looks like someone rubbed on it with a damp sponge.

I did some googling around and found it's not an uncommon problem with the SEC3157 LCD (graininess), my question is, do I have to return the whole laptop for an LCD replacement or does Dell sent a technician around?

The LCD is very annoying, but I have already installed XP and customized it to how I like it and I don't want to have to secure delete my data and resend the whole thing in. >.<

I've attached a picture of a close up with my phone, hopefully, it'll show the problem.

edit: wrong section >.< Mod please move to inspiron forum.

It depends on your warranty. Call dell and tell them your problem. They may or may not come, but they probably will fix it for you, for its not your problem.

I have the same problem with my D830. Tech support is sending out a brand new laptop. They said that if I am not satisfied with it I can return for a full refund. I just hope the screen is good as I really like my D830.
