Try clicking on the link that it gives you to reinstall flash player. Maybe you don't have the latest version of flash player installed. Then close out of your browser and try again.

I had a similar problem with ESPN. It kept saying that I needed Flash Player. So I just clicked on the link it gave me and it works now.

are you running firefox? It seems like firefox has problems detecting players. I have a similar problem with the fox not being able to play music videos. to date, i still can't fix the issue. Try using ie and see if the problem still exists.

i have the same problem under ie7, too lazy to try the other IEs
    no problem with firefox.
the only time i have issue with FF at the moment is CNN link (media player not detected), just keep closing the message windows and re-clicking a few times, then it is ok. sometimes with luck, CNN works on the first click.
but just to confirm , no issue with youtube via firefox

    cheers ...

first of all, try downloading and installing Adobe Flash Plater from here:

    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Once you've done that, if the problem is not solved, right click in the video window, and click Macromedia Flash Player Options/Settings. Make sure it is isn't blocking cookies or anyhthing from youtube.com.

Have you got a firewall that could be interfering with the connection to youtube.com?

first of all, thanks for all your replies.

i'm using IE... dunno if it's 7 or other versions. i got my m1210 a little less than 3 months ago so i'd imagine that it's the newest version? basically, i tried reinstalling jre update 7 or whatever, restarted computer, still asks me to install flash player, so i click on the link to install, but then nothing pops up to prompt me to install and actually shows that 'successfully installed' thing. so i go back to youtube, same msg. so i go up to internet options, thinking that i have the scripts disabled, but i actually have them enabled...

i guess i'll try what lil mayz said, and shall report back if it works or not.

oh and lil mayz, i actually don't get the video window. it just displays the msg saying that i either have an older version of flash or that i don't have it installed... or so i think...?

    thanks again!

You may want to try completely uninstalling the flash player before going to that site.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

Somehow, it doesn't seem to install the latest version of Flash player if you already have a fairly recent version installed. Uninstalling it first works for me though. I've since kept the uninstaller handy just so that whenever I get the message that flash isn't detected, I can quickly uninstall it, and reinstall it by going to the link provided by Lil Mayz.

    cheers!

I had this problem a while ago, and took me some time to discover the source of the problem. Well if u r using RegScrubXP or anyother registery cleaners, then u might need to uncheck the "flash" items on the list because they remove some flash files needed to run in the browser. To solve this problem, go to C:\WINDOWS > System32 > Macromed > Flash > Click on UninstFl. This will uninstall Adobe Flash. Now go to any website that has a flash content, and Internet Explorer will notify u that a Plugin is required to run the content, click on the yellow bar, then a Adobe Flash Player Installer will pop-up, finally click Install. This will make all of the flash websites work.
