    anyone know or seen rumors for when Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1) will be available?

    No it isn't. The most recent release was labeled as "Pre-RC1", but it is still beta. RC1 is short for Release Candidate 1, and indicates the first release that is considered to be a representation of the final product. Generally speaking, once a product gets to Release Candidate stage, there aren't supposed to be further changes, etc. beyond just getting any remaining bugs ironed out, etc. Usually a few release candidates will come out before the product goes gold and is ready to ship out in its final state.

    well they closed the customer preview program and are no longer offering the beta for download. I remember reading somewhere that the RC1 was going to be released to people who have already participated in the beta program sometime after august.

    was just wondering if anyone has seen any dates or other rumors..

    DailyTech reported today that MS officially released RC1 to the MSDN Develops Group today. Those who signed up for the CPP way back when should be able to download the bits next week!
