hey guys, i used vista sp2 on the same laptop 8also x64 vista) and now i have win7 prof x64. For me it feels like the photo viewer got slower?

Its not like it starts slower.. but the images load much slower. And while they load the photo viewer doesnt react anymore. Anyone has that problem too? I re-installed win7 twice already and had this problem on both installations.

    1. installation: sata with win7 + pictures on it
    2. installation: ssd with win7 + sata with pictures.

as i said the photo viewer itself starts rly fast. on both installations. jsut the images load rly long. u reconize it alot when u have photo viewer opened and browse your images by clicking next.

i dont know why :( and it rly is slow.. i know how it was on vista (same pictures.. so its not like i try to watch 100mb pictures :p ).

    thx bb

For me they load pretty fast, but I don't use it. I use Google's Photo Viewer that comes with Picasa instead, it is much nicer.

If you let the Search indexer crawl through it, it will load much faster.

it already is added to the indexing options :/

on my win7 they are 100% much slower than it was on vista.. and i installed win7 twice already.. both times it was slow.. and i watch the same pictures as i did on vista :/

@edit: for a wallpaper 1650x1080 with 1,2mb i need around 5 seconds.. in these 5 seconds the whole photo viewer freezes :x

This is probably a driver issues.. sounds like a missing motherboard driver, in my opinion.

installed intel chipset driver, nvidia dox driver for win7 , and all the drivers for fn+f1/f12 keys etc.

also the fps in games are fine.

    Sure!
Start > type: "Color". Select "Color Management" from the list.
Finally, remove everything on the list. Enjoy! :)

I have no idea that it ever would create such a problem.. Once i installed 7 RTM too, and the photo viewer was so slow, like yours.. I never really fixed it though, i just formatted.

hmm i clicked "use this settings for my device" and removed the profile.. but nothing has changed (gamma brightness,.. ) so it must be still here? Also when i unclick the "use this settings for my device" the profile is there again.

    @edit:
hm not sure if the colours have changed nwo after the reboot.. i somehow think so.. how ever the photo viewer is much faster now.

if i want to change my colour settings now, is it save to go to the nvidia panel and change the colours there (gama brightness,...) ? Rights now its set to "other appliation controls settings".

    thanks

Using Nvidia Control Panel color adjustment occurs at a hardware level, IIRC, therefor no perform decrease should be visible. I don't know about game performance decrease. GPU's are preatty powerful when it comes to drawing stuff, so I don't think you will notice anything.

It means Windows, or if a software uses it's own color system.
