    i have a hp hdx 16t with 8 gig ram and a 2.8 ghz dual core, whenever i boot u windows 7, it shows the starting windows, with the flying colors on top for like 1-2 minutes, then it goes to the welcome screen and everything works normally, could someone please tell me how i could cut that time, and/or figure out what the issue is,

    thanks in advance for any help.

    Cheers,
    Ben.

    If its a new rig, try a clean install to get rid of the bloatware bundled with it. :)

    disable (in the bios) every hw component not needed. webcam, cardreader, etc. only really the lowest needed features. boot again and look if that solves it. if it does, one of those components has a driver that blocks your system for a long time.

    in my desktop, i had a boot time of about 2.5minutes. by removing the card reader (never used, in my case removal trough unplugging on the mainboard) resulted in a boot time of 30seconds.

    Windows 7 doesn't come packaged with bloatware...

    Did it take this long before you installed any drivers? Certain Vista x64 drivers can drastically increase boot times, and it's possible some beta drivers do as well. I was able to trace a drastic increase in boot time directly to my sound drivers.

    I assume you've got a decent hard drive, as the HDX 16t comes with pretty good ones these days? If you bought it awhile back and have a mediocre hard drive, 2 - 3 minutes may not be all that unreasonable - Windows 7 isn't actually that fast at bootup, despite the talk that they were trying to make it very fast in that regard.

    I would have to disagree...After my bios splash screen it takes about 20secs for it to boot up completely. Even booting from vmware only takes 30secs for me.

    @AlliPodHax

    Check your BIOS, make sure Native Sata (or something like it) is enabled. (not sure if it'll help but it might)
