    what is the difference between window vista business-retail and window vista business for system builder?

    System builder = OEM, which means that copy will only install on one machine forever. It will not transfer to another computer, and you would have to purchase another copy if some day you need a new computer.

    I believe it does not come with technical support from Microsoft either.

    OEM is cheaper, so if you are sure you won't need to call Microsoft for anything vista related and you have no need to transfer it to another machine OEM is a good buy.

    Note* to buy OEM you must purchase a new PC component like a processor, Hard drive, CD/DVD drive, etc.

    A lot of times places like newegg.com will ship you a $1 molex Y-cable with it to fulfill the hardware requirement.

    In theory this is how OEM versions of windows must be purchased but these days some* retailers no longer force you to buy any hardware with the OEM version of windows :D .
