If these two services are disabled, what else might be affected?

I'm concerned about the 'routine' (not through a workgroup) sharing of disk/filesystems/printers, RDP and a possible upgrade to an AD install.

    thanks

    Nothing else.
I have them disabled, and I have no networking problem of any kind, and I have both a shared USB printer on a computer and a network printer. I also Remote Desktop between computer and from the outside to the main computer.

These 2 services are also disabled by default in Windows 7 Enterprise edition if I recall correctly.

Be sure to get out of the homegroup automatically done when you first install Win7, and then disable the service. If all is good, the "homegroup" item on the folders will disappear.
