    So nothing turns up in the box for turn features on/off....
    What now?

    I see a blank window.
    Under programs and features, it has a long list of programs.
    then underneath it says uninstall, change or repair.

    when i click on turn windows features/on/off. it's a blank box. with ok/cancel at the bottom.

    my computer (HP 2510p) is brandnew. so i haven't done much to it.

    Try this:

    Open the command prompt (Start --> Run --> cmd) and type:
    reg delete HKLM\COMPONENTS /v StoreDirty
