Does anybody know if "wholesale software provider" is legit? If you googled it comes out immediately.

It has incredible prices on win7 and office that seem unreal. In my experience when that happens it is a scam.

I googled the name together with scam but nothing came out.

    Anybody knows them?

They are just selling a Product Key and give you a download link. Can't say if they are legit but they are in Sarasota, Florida, not far from where I live.

I checked and there was 1 complaint with the BBB that was resolved.

    Smells somewhat fishy.
At least for MS products, I'd check here if this is genuine stuff: How to Tell - Home

Does sound fishy like a cut and paste from an Ebay listing. There is one way to find out, email Microsoft and give them the link to the company's website. They'll investigate it.

Have you heard anything back? The prices on Windows 7 are insane and I was thinking of grabbing a copy.

I purchase from known retailers like newegg, fry's, and amazon. I would avoid deals that sound to good to be true.

I'd 100% say that this is a dodgy site. There's no way they could sell a genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate for $19.99, just not possible!! I've recieved emails from sites like this in the past.

Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection, Adobe price $2599, WSP price $99, don't make me laugh. :p

Oh, if it where true...count me in for an upgrade. I know a guy who knows a guy who can provide CS5.5 for less than $99.00. No updates. Both smell like a can of sardines. Everyone check their ethics.

Just had quite a funny experience with these folks, enough so that I joined this forum to post it.

Here is the chat log of me requesting a refund, after I confirmed w/ Microsoft that the key was illegally sold. I did my best not to be childish with the rep, but it was just too hard.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Wogmail:
    Question
Please refund my purchase from earlier today. Order number 000***. I just got off the phone with Microsoft and they confirmed that the product key was illegal to be sold to an end-user, and it is VLK and that the Enterprise version of Office is not to be sold to end users.

    Natalie:
    How may I help You?

    Wogmail:

    Natalie:
I am not sure who you spoke with at Microsoft but that is not the case.

    Wogmail:
I literally just got off the phone with them

    Natalie:
We have permission in writing from Microsoft to sell there products to our customers.

    Natalie:
Well when you call Microsoft you are speaking with a customer service rep that knows very little about anything.

    Natalie:
What was the reason of your calling them? Were you unable to activate your Office?

    Wogmail:
I called them because I know that MS Enterprise software is not to be sold to end-users, and because Professional Plus is not available for retail sale

    Natalie:
We purchase it is bulk so that we are able to sell it to our customers.

    Natalie:
hat was the reason that you purchased it, if you say that it cannot be sold to end users?

    Natalie:
Did you purchase it just to try to cause problems?

    Wogmail:
Because it seemed to good to be true, and I wanted to confirm it was.

    Natalie:
    Well did your product activate?

    Wogmail:
To try to cause problems, haha

    Wogmail:
    That is funny

    Natalie:
Because our terms very clearly state that we can only refund if the product does not activate.

    Wogmail:
Refund or I will just get PayPal or AmEx to do so. It does not matter to me.

    Wogmail:
Your address is a UPS store.

    Natalie:
So you are just a problem customer, I see you like to cause problems. Well please be sure to never purchase from us again, and I will also be sure to let the other vendors in our group not to sell to you as well.

    Wogmail:
Great, thanks, so you are refunding

    Wogmail:
    ?

    Wogmail:
    Yes?

    Natalie:
Our address being a UPS store, has nothing to do with anything. Our busu=iness is out of our home, so we use the UPS store to receive alll mail.

    Natalie:
The same as many small business owners.

    Natalie:
thing but a trouble maker looking for trouble.

    Wogmail:
Well, most small business owners don't resell used VLK to end-users for 1/20th of the cost of retail

    Natalie:
Why don't you get a life instead of trying to cause other peole trouble.

    Wogmail:
Why don't you just tell me that you are going to give me a refund and then we can both stop wasting our time

    Natalie:
As stated before, we have written agreement from Microsoft that we are allowed to sell the keys to our customers. Also it shows what you know because they are not VLK, the are MLK and there is a difference

    Natalie:
WE will refund you when you admit that you are just trying to cause trouble.

    Wogmail:
I'm not trying to cause trouble. I'm trying to buy inexpensive MS Office copies for a children's charity, and I can't afford to be donating copies with software the MS says are illegal. I bought one copy to test.

    Natalie:
The copys are legal and we have paper work to prove it.

    Wogmail:
Now give me a refund or I am going to just get PayPal to do it. It is only $25 and I don't have time for this.

    Natalie:
Your such an idiot, I already refunded you a long time ago, .

    Wogmail:
    Great. You're, not your.

Well MLK is supposed to be OEM. Since there is no hardware being sold with the software it is an illegal sale. This is assuming the M$ verified VLK status of the key is wrong...........

Lol.... Cheapest you can get Windows 7 Home is around $22, BUT ONLY if you're a student and have a school that's involved in Microsoft's academic programs. The best price for Win7 Home (aside from upgrade) is the OEM version, going for some $80-odd.

Please tell us what Microsoft says about the site, though :D

I got burned for a Battlefield 2 key that sold at the time for 22.95$ and lost my levels and stats due to it being banned.

Wouldn't trust these potential key-generator websites.

In the end, EA was nice enough to set me up with a new account, even though it was my fault for purchasing it from what I thought was a legitimate site.

No, it's not your fault. It's the fault of whoever sold you the key. The moment you start blaming yourself as the victim, DRM has won.

I purchased a windows product and everything worked seamlessly. I am enjoying my new software at 1/3 the price of other places. No problems activating it either. So its not a scam.

He will not be banned by Microsoft :) Those "businessmen" bought VLK or MLK licence where they can license 20-40 computers and then they sell it to everyone. This is illegal but Microsoft can't know this unless you tell them that it is so, meaning that your computer is not working computer in the firm where the guy with that serial works.

2 Days ago I found another site which sells Windows 7 Professional for 6$ and Windows 8 for 10 due to Microsoft's amazing prices till 1st of September. I bet they buy volume license cheaper and then sell cheaper while usually they sell for the same fishy price but lets say twice more expensive. It was very temptive and I almost bought Win7 key :)

These are 2 mentalities: Europe/USA and former Soviet Union's one. I could understand both while reading that chat above.
Your mentality makes you think that it is ridiculous to sell counterfeit production and then spend 10 minutes for lame arguments like "if you activated successfully then what do you want" and other.
While they believe it is ridiculous to argue for a refund if you activated it and got it locked just because you called yourself to Microsoft.

To those people who wrote here that they bought it and don't care if it is illegal beware. Promoting piracy is bad thing on this forum.

As far as I'm concerned this is a scam. I purchased Windows 8. I received a key code and was given download links for the 32 bit and 64 bit versions, in ISO format. I wanted the 64 bit. The ISO was corrupted and would not install. He sent me a another link to the 64 bit version. It also would not work. (I believe it was the same file). When I sent messages to him about this, he refused to reply. I decided to try the 32 bit version. It installed. The listing on his site said that you would be able to update to ver. 8.1 after installing. Because the key code was a VL, or Volume License, version the only way to update it would be with the original code given to the purchaser, or the IT person that originally installed it. Again he would not respond to my messages. Therefore the install was worthless. 8.1 is a necessary update for the OS to be useful. Most further updates issued by Microsoft will not work with version 8. He took my money and ripped me off. I was forced to buy the retail version of the OS.

Update end revision: After I posted my comments on several sites I received an email from the company advising me that they had issued a refund to my bank account. They said that they normally don't have problems with license keys and they always want to make things right. About a week later I received the refund. So, I withdraw my Scam rating and upgrade their rating to "Caution". If they were responding to my online comments, perhaps they will provide necessary support in the future. If you have a problem, and they don't respond, you can post your story and see if it helps. I am still skeptical about the Win 8.1 upgrade, as they would either have to provide a link to 8.1 in the first place, or provide the key information necessary for 8 to 8.1 upgrade. If you purchase 8, you will not automatically get the upgrade option in the Windows store. They would have to provide upgrade procedure information. They are selling volume licenses which is considered "Grayware" and, although not illegal or necessarily a violation of software provider policies, the practice is frowned upon. If faced with a need for a piece of software, and lacking the necessary funds, I might take a risk with them. Buyer beware.

Volume License version of Win8 cannot be upgraded to 8.1 in MS Store, instead a clean (or maybe upgrade install from 8.1 media) is needed.

When Win7 came out, shady dealers were selling Volume License versions online, people bought them only to have their OS deactivated later when certain seller was caught and their licenses revoked after next windows update. Same thing with Win8, with the difference that 8 checks for validity even more often than 7.
