    where is my space?

    i have a 400gb HD, and i have 60gb of my files (apps, music, ect) and i have 200gb free space.... where did all my space go?

    What operating system are you using? Have you got multiple drive partictions?

    Vista does take up a lot of space but I doubt 140GB! Sorry, as your a big poster I shan't patronise you with the basic stuff that you probably already know so sorry, know I can't think of anything. I have heard of Vista taking up around 60GB though so this could be part of the problem?

    It can get tricky...viruses can do that, Vista can do that...things starting with "V" can do that... but seeing how much space it can take is frightening.
    My Winsxs folder seems to be 8.7GB large. Before I reinstalled Vista (to update to a new SP version) it used to be around 15GB large.
    So if you have it installed since a year ago...you get the idea.
    Take a look into this and see which folder takes that space (as it has to be assigned somewhere).

    yea... i already looked at it, and it doesnt add up though.... shadow copy shouldnt be taking as much space as im missing

    How about Winsxs folder (it's in Windows folder)?
