I just got a brand spankin new dell vostro 1000 for just under 600 bucks (which i love, especially considering i got it so cheap), but the roxio cd burning software that comes with it blows. i've always used nero ever since i first got onto a computer, which was back in like 97, and never had the slightest problem. now, the first cd i burned with the roxio skipped like none other in my car, and i'm hoping its because of the software and not my burner. i DO have an external burner that worked just fine when i used it on my last laptop (havent tried it on this one yet), but i'd like to use the built in one if at all possible.

so, long story short, i need a version of nero, which of course i would like to be free. anyone know where to download one? i searched download.com, but could only find trial versions

You can't. Amazingly, Nero wants you to by the software instead of steal it. Gee Wiz, who woulda thunk it.

Use CDBurnerXP. Does everything Nero does and more for free.

    Agreed!

I'd run from Nero like the plague... If they made it free I still wouldn't want it near my machine... Its the champion of excessively bloated software...

It says it does audio cds? I haven't tested it though as I haven't burned an audio CD in decades...

What's wrong with Windows Media Player for that?

    nothing.........

and pls don't "google" for "nero 8.2 keygen" or "nero crack" as that would take you to sites filled w/ viruses and spyware and you'd be right back here asking for help......
