It seems they had released it but soon thereafter pulled it due to problems. You'll just have to wait a little longer unless you want to do a registry hack. The hack isn't worth it IMO.

SP1 gave me a bluescreen every 20 minutes when I got it a while ago. I uninstalled it and havent had another since. I'd wait for it to be set in stone 100% and fully tested as stable before updating.

If you don't have any problems you don't need it, I haven't even gotten a increase in file transfer between disc performance, and I got SP1, quite a disappointment in terms of performance, and neither did I get any more features or stability :\

If it downloaded, and downloaded without the hack that others have used, this was an "interim" release that as others have pointed out, was released by accident.

    You should uninstall it.

But, make certain that it was indeed the sp1 update, and not the sp1 rerequisite updates (a series of 3 updates that will make sp1 load correctly). these were small releases. Sp1 was quite large and required your PC to reboot 3 times during install

You may want to review this blog before you try installing SP1.
I was hit with this through auto update.

Sp1 was released on the 4th of February and it is the same thing as the last RC refresh they've released in January (which they decided to make RTM). There was no other release besides the RTM since then.

They'd probably change some things...I'd uninstall it and wait for the official public release just in case.

It's final, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (x86, x64) has been realeased in 5 languages. I did a fresh install myself, I have Vista with SP1 release on DVD so once my Windows installation completed SP1 was already there.
