All of my hard drives on my computers the last few years have beenNTFS. I deal with alot of dvds/large mpegs and NTFS will handle very large files while FAT will not. The only time I have used a FAT system is when I was dual booting Linux for awhile.

    NTFS

Fat32 is not an option if you want to handle dvd images, or anything in excess of 4GB.

Fat32 is faster, yet more prone to catastrophic failure, NTFS has a built in back up mechanism, and thus is more recommended

I use both, since I tend to multi-boot my computers. NTFS for the main Windows partition, and a single FAT32 partition for sharing files among the various OS that might be installed.

I have just always used NTFS, and it seems to be a better system for what I do. Everything I have is on NTFS, hasn't been a problem so far, so I will let it go.

NTFS here. When I had the Acer, it ran on FAT32 for a while before I converted it to NTFS. For my use it really doesnt matter what file system Win uses.

    NTFS.

I used to use FAT32 but it won't transfer files greater than 4 GB. In practical terms when I travel, I would transfer my DVD ISO from the external HD to the laptop. Virtual DVD ROM drives, like Daemon Tools, will theoretically use less of the battery life.

NTFS on my notebook, FAT on my older desktops, most of those hard drives aren't even big enough to hold a 4 GB file. I'm not sure whether I have FAT or NTFS on my older desktop that installed XP on though.

I have NTFS on all of my newer computers. I have an ancient Dell (desktop) that uses FAT32 - then again, it only has 15GBs of storage and runs Windows 98.

We resold acer laptops at my previous job. It always confused me that they used FAT32 on all their laptops... Never could determine why.

    NTFS on my Windows Partition
    Two other blank partitions
    FAT32 on my iPod
Possibly FAT32 on another partition for Linux...
There needs to be an option in the poll for NTFS and FAT32!
