    is there a way to completely reinstall vista but keep all the files i already have?
    i have another partitian in my harddrive, its 11 gbs, big enough for all the programs i wanna keep.. what should i do? can someone tell me step by step what i should do?

    You backup all your data by moving it to the other partition, and reinstalling O/S -- we are just talking data here correct?

    You want to re-install Vista? Are you having problems? You can't retain your original programs since it will be a re-install. Why not just attempt to repair it instead and keep your original programs intact.
