    vista pre,downgrade to xp

    im was lookn at this laptop with vista prem in it and was wondering if i downgraded to xp would the over all system run better with xp.

    1gb ram,6100 nvidia graphics. processor amd sempron 3500+

    and yes it is a cheap lappy lol.

    would it run better in what way?

    With games, XP would run better. With everything else, pretty much the same--least ways, nothing you will notice

    well i guess ill just stay with the vista.im not tryn to run games on a 6100 lol.i did just find a asus with a nvidia 7300 128mb for an extra 30£ yay.

    It would startup faster. It would stay cooler. It would use less RAM. It would shutdown faster. Battery life would last longer. File transfer would be quicker. These are differences I noticed when moving from Vista to XP.

    For gaming purposes vista will perform about the same as xp. but for general usage vista has still quite a few instabilities, and xp is still more responsive. And since you have a 1gb ram, xp will run faster definitely.
