hey guys, I downloaded the free home version of avast anti-virus and everytime I boot up windows vista, it says virus protection not found.
Any reason why it can't find it? I updated avast to the latest version, and on avasts website it says the newer versions fully support vista. And I'm sure there are no remnants of the past anti-virus on my comp if that matters.

When I installed Vista Ultimate it too didn't recognize Avast. I just made Vista ignore it and manage it myself (antivirus).

I have Vista Ultimate and the latest free Avast, it is detected fine on my machine. I remember that happening on my Beta Vista installs, but never on the retail version.

I had the same problem with Windows Vista not recognizing it. I just told Vista that I would manage it myself. But after maybe a couple of weeks I decided to fool around in the security center. I told vista to find a program and it recognized Avast. I have no idea what I did but it found the program. Just checking now it says that I have versions 4.7.986 [VPS 000736-2].
