    Hi there,

I was hoping someone would help me out - I noticed recently that the icons for my DVD drive and iPod are not displaying anymore. Rather, they are getting the generic blank icon icon.

    example:

and before anyone asks, i cannot remember when this issue started, all i know is it used to display perfectly :( . is there any way to fix this?
    cheers

This is a long shot, but I guess it's worth trying:
Right click your DVD drive/iPod icon, select Properties, and go to the Customize tab. Under Folder Pictures, click Restore Default. Hope this works out for you!

I have no idea if this will work or not but I am assuming that there is something wrong with your icon cache.

Go to start - search for disk clean up program. Use it to clean c: drive and clean the "Thumbnails."

Pop in your Vista dvd, then...

Start > (type into search box) "cmd", Double click to run command Prompt

Type this: sfc /scannow, and allow it to run the Windows System File Checker.

If there is a problem with a system file, it will be overwritten with the original. Just know that if you've done a lot of tweaking, you may have to redo it after running SFC.
