Hey, I forgot to order an OS when I ordered my NP5792 because, well, I'm an idiot. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the 64 bit version of home premium offline, preferably tonight? (in LA area).

I checked at Best Buy (400 dollars for Ultimate Edition, no thanks!), Frye's (this might be the worst store ever), and Circuit City (no go!) ..Such a bummer!

Yeah, or you can buy it for $7, with no license (but you don't need one). It might take a few weeks to arrive though. If you can borrow one from someone else, you just need to use your own license key. You might also be interested in the ABR tool I wrote to backup your activation before you reinstall. Take a look at my clean install guide (see sig) for details on all of this.

The Fry's in Topanga can be really good sometimes. They have HP for 118$? I dont remember excacly, but it was really cheap. Just go during an off peak hour, else you will be stuck there for 3 hours in line at the register. Oh, and I found it helps when you park as far away from the front as possible, since people will just walk in front and in back of you as you try to pull out.

    Well Orev,

again it just shows you don't know everything. Completely legit, all software comes with legal key to install. You must not have even read the infor on the site. Again, you make it seem like HP or Microsoft pay you to say some of the outrageous things you sometimes say. Open mouth, insert foot. ;)

    Happy New Year

They should pay their web designer to make a site that doesn't look like a domain name squatter is running it.

Here is a great suggestion. Install one of the many great and free Linux Distro's out there. Ubuntu is freeking easy to install. Install Wine for Windows Programs and Games. Save your self about 400 dollars. Have a great new year!

Yes, Linux is great, but the incessant posting the Linux community seems to be doing promoting it does not help the cause. Linux is about freedom, so let people be free to do what they want. Many people simply want or need to use Windows, and that's just the way it is.
