So you bought the x64 media to use as another operating system? You're not using it to replace the 32-bit OS? If you're using it as another OS for another computer, then yeah, you're gonna have to get a 64-bit key.

If you were going to replace your 32-bit with the 64-bit, you could've used your key that came with the 32-bit disc.

I know you can use the key for either a 32 or 64 bit version of Vista but its illegal to have more than one system running off just one key....but you can use your 32 bit key to install 64

You didn't think you were going to get a whole Windows license for 10 bucks, did you?
Free OSes cost more than that. ;)

There are no 32-bit keys or 64-bit keys. The keys are the same. You bought the 64-bit upgrade disc, and you got it. Fair enough.

Any full retail copy of vista comes with 1 key for 32 & 64bit they are the SAME key! but you only get the x86 version disk in the box with the exception of ultimate, so they will send you the x64 disk for 10$ if you need/want x64.

In buying that retail copy of the OS you also get 1 LICENSE that means you have rights to use it for one computer, just because you got a x64 disk doesnt mean you got a 2nd license.

Play the system... thats what I did 70$ shipped for the home premium upgrade disk with educational discount. So I have a full legal copy of vista for 70$ and you can install it ontop of itself so you dont actually need to upgrade from xp or another vista disk.

How is this a rip off? You don't get an extra operating system to install for $10.

Yes, the key does not care which bit version you use.
