How do I take a 30 minute 1000MB vob file and cut it down to 5-7 minutes? Does handbrake work like Audacity where you can "start and end recording" during a song?

And I want to post it to a Facebook group.

OK, not to sure what I'm doing. LOL.... The DVD has a start menu with several chapters. When I open the files from explorer none of those take me to the very beginning.

Is there any software that will allow me to capture the 1st 5 minutes of the dvd playing it with VLC player??

If it's a DVD, rip it to your hard drive and use DVD Shrink in Re-Author mode. It will allow you to set a start point and end point and re-save as a DVD. Another good program is AVI DeMux. You can open just about any kind of video file, cut sections out and save the result without re-encoding. You can optionally use it to change to a different format. You can also do it in VLC. On the 'Open File' box there is an option at the bottom to stream the file. That is a bit harder to set up, and IDK if you can set it up to only do part of the DVD. Lots of guides and info over at VideoHelp.com.

Thanks oly, I've been trying VLC stream but it saves as a "file" even though I checked mpg4, which will play with VLC but won't upload to Facebook. I'll try dvdshrink.

It appears I got what i wanted. Ripped to my HDD, reauthored with DVDShrink, & coverted to mp4 with Handbreak. Facebook said the upload was successful but will notify me with it's finished processing.

    Olyteddy, thanks again
