when i am on xp, i can delete/rename/move a file and when i go to the 'undo' button in explorer i get a prompt on the bottom of the window to tell me what i am about to undo. which is nice :)
in windows 7 i do not see any similar prompt. i can select undo but how do i know what it is doing? am i missing something? where is the list of undo actions kept?

OK, in order to get the functionality you want, you need to tap "alt+V" in any Explorer window and check "Status Bar." Then you'll get another bar at the bottom that resembles the bar from XP.

It's worth noting that this option isn't enabled by default in XP, either, but the same steps work there.

doh! for some reason a long time ago i decided that the status bar was replaced by the bigger info bar and didnt even look for the old status bar.
its the first thing i turn on when using xp on any computer.
now i am happy. the closer win 7 gets to xp the more i like it
all they have to do now is sort out the search ;)
