How come when I tun uTorrent there seems to be no activity at all in IE! Even if I shut down uTorrent the connection to IE doesn't come back until I restart!?

I have enabled maximum connections in the OS rather than the max allowed 10 but still.

If ur running NOD32 antivirus do the following:

    1. Select Display: Advance Mode
    2. Setup > Antivirus and antispyware
    3. Web Access Protection > HTTP > Web Browsers
    4. EXCLUDE µTorrent.exe by adding a cross

What kind of router are you using? I am assuming that you are using a router because I have experienced the same problem and it went away when I upgraded to a D-Link DGL-4500. The router I had before was some cheap little D-Link, not sure what kind...but it sucked and had no wireless abilities. The problem I experienced was basically all internet activity stopped once uTorrent was started and stayed inactive for about 5 minutes after it was stopped unless you restarted the router. Once we got the new router, internet activity is now possible, though greatly reduced in speed while uTorrent is running.

It sometimes happens with me as well. The chat messengers and uTorrent work fine, but none of the browsers (Opera or IE7) do. I've done what mbushnaq00 said, it doesn't work.

Oddly, it ONLY happens when using a public trackers. Never with any private tracker!

And yes, I have done all the n00b checklist things.

Turn on UPnP in your router settings..!!
Then disable all firewalls, you should get a green circle at the bottom of the client with a tick mark in it, not a yellow or red circle..!! Net will be a little bit slower than usual....!! If you still have problems, try a different client such as Bittorent....mostly it is the router's firewall blocking the internet flow and then you have to do port forwarding and all that stuff..!!
On my PC Bittorent doesnt get blocked by the router due to UPnP and I have all firewalls disabled..!! So both the client and net work fine simultaneously..!!

And sometimes the firewall doesnt get disabled by the UI itself, so try disabling its service through msconfig and then restart and try again....
