    i dont know where to ask this. lol.

    i was wondering if it is legal to use torrents to download tv shows? i know movies and music it is, but tv doesnt have fbi warnings or anything, and it is freely available by just turning on the tv. anyone know?

    The short answer, no it's not legal.

    Although BT is not always or necessarily illegal, there are a lot of legal stuff distributed with BT also, for example, Linux OSs.

    Downloading TV shows outside US should be legal...because they aint aired anyway...

    within US i dont know.

    The material is copyrighted. In some countries, it's legal because its a "personal use" but in US, its basically no, for movies, music, tv shows and any other copyrighted material. Do your remember the woman who got sued for downloading like, 20 songs, on Limewire?

    Even though it doesn't have FBI copyright warnings there are still copyrights on it. Also it isn't free by just turning on the TV, you have to pay for cable or satellite service unless you are grabbing one of the few over the air channels.

    lol yeah, im too cheap for cable, i just get broadcast (hmmm....this might just be why i want to torrent my tv shows)- that last part wasnt supposed to be sarcastic.

    If you're apprehensive about watching TV shows via downloaded torrents, I suggest you take a look at the legal alternatives, for example Hulu.com and Joost.com.

    ok, so torrents for media files are basically illeagal. lol. (not all are, i know that)
    hmm... how about this site? fasttvdownloads.com ? it looks pretty promising, does anyone know if its legal? from what i read it is, but i wanna make sure. also does anyone use this, and how is the selection of movies and tv shows and stuff?
