could i use an ethernet cable for this? i want to download some things onto one computer then transfer to another(it's a long story why). what i've done before is just upload the files to a host and then download them onto the other computer but that is a pain...

basically i just need the quickest way to send files from one comp to another...?

Load up AIM on both computers.

    Send the files using WiFi.

Yes, you can use an ethernet cable for this. You will have to use a crossover cable instead of the usual patch cable. You then have to set static IP addresses for both computers. After this you will be able to explore each computers shared resources.

aka:set up a home network.......go to the new network wizard in the control panel.
at least that's how I connected my laptop to my desktop.

Networking might be the fastest way, but if you don't have a network/crossover cable, an external HD is a pretty easy way to do it. In fact, if the files aren't too big, a jump drive might work.

I would go the crossover cable route like vespoli said faster.
