there are probably threads discussing this already...but if someone could be so kind to write some kind of 'Tut' on removing 'vista' and installing xp...that would be really nice...my scenerio...setting up two extra laptops for a business type of environment...would really rather use xp pro...i already have two xp pro oem install discs...won't let me install...gets to the enter to install xp pro...then error...can't find hard drive...tried shrinking C:\ and installing xp there...same error...used a d.o.s. boot disk called kobains...and made a fat32 partition...still same error...the two laptops are Toshiba A205-S5853's...any help much appreciated

No HDD detected during XP install usually indicates that you need SATA driver (Intel Matrix Storage Manager). Either slipstrem the drivers with nlite onto the XP CD(guides on the forum/internet) or you might be able to disable native sata support in the BIOS(might be called compatibility mode or AHCI).

I prefer not to have a generic guide in the Windows forum since I believe it belongs in the manufactures sub-forum.

XP guides in those forums are usually accompanied by detailed steps on what is the easiest method to install XP(some BIOS dont allow you to disable SATA for the XP install to start) and how to get the drivers neccessary to have a fully functioning laptop with XP.

But if someone is willing to make a guide, I will mention it in the index sticky.

Edit: also, please do not post PM message since they are private. You can mention you PMed him but there is no reason to post the contents.

    Thanks.
