    Hi.

Why is it starting maximized, I have tried right-clicking on the icon and changing it to start-minimized, but it makes no difference.

    Thanks

    John.

    Hi.

I mean, every time i boot the computer it loads up as the normal skype window instead of going to the taskbar.

    Thanks

    John.

Go into msconfig and startup and remove the program from the list. It's just like AIM: if it startsup and notices an internet connection, then it will try to connect and start maximized but if it startsup and doesn't have an internet connection then it stays minimized in the taskbar.

    Hi.

I have been using skype for years, and it does not normaly do this.

If i remove it from the msconfig, I will have to star it manualy every time.

    Thanks

    John.

    1) Turn off "Start Skype when I start Windows" in Skype Options.
    2) Go to Skype installation directory, right click on Skype.exe, create a shortcut to your Desktop.
    3) Edit Target as in above.
    4) Copy edited shortcut to Startup directory.
    5) Reboot.

have u tried to hide it from within taskbar properties?
    . start skype
. go to taskbar properties, go thru Hide inactive icon, and set Skype always to be hidden

i m not sure that it can satisfy a bit what u were looking for

    cheers ...

    Hi.

I am getting use to living with it.

I suppose if vista came out before xp.

I would be complaining that Xp does not open the skype windows :)

    Regards

    John.

You can use the Task Scheduler to manually launch skype on log-in. Try using the minimized/hide parameters again

    impressive attitude ... cool.

still it would be nice if Skype (or Windows) can make it transparent across versions, either apps or OS

    cheers ...

I have it installed on an XP desktop and a Vistsa laptop. It works exactly the same on both. It starts up as a system tray icon.

The OP might try uninstalling it and reinstalling.
