I have a router and Zonealarm but zonealarm slows my computer down a lot. would it be safe to turn off zonealarm, keep my router on, and use window's firewall?

    Maybe it isn't the firewall.
    Test it.
Put ZA on and go to systeminfo look how much it consume.
Do the same with ZA off.
It is know that ZA sometimes conflict with other software, look there for a solution.
    Still ZA is the best.
Is there a firewall in your router that cause the problem with ZA???

Would not recommend going without a firewall especially if you are on broadband. Just had to re-install someones computer who was going naked and got filled with spyware. My personal opinion is that Windows firewall is not very good. I use ZoneAlarm without issues. Perhaps it is not setup correctly or something else is at fault.

Some say that it would be safe without any firewall, because the router provides better protection than them anyway. Dunno. I run 3 PCs behind my router with no software firewalls. I hardly get any spyware ever, and most often it's due to accidental clicks on something that shouldn't have been clicked on.

Not every router has a firewall, so be carefull before you uninstall a firewall ore don't install a firewall.
