oops sorry for the title, not vista 7 lol, just vista
I bought an Acer laptop, and when I went to restore the laptop to the factory settings, the restoration did not complete (a long story involving lost restoration disks etc). Anyway, the MS Vista Home Basic OEM key is on the back of the laptop, so is it possible to get an ISO of this version and use the CD key on the back of the laptop to reinstall windows? And if so, where can I find such an ISO (and will other vista versions work?)

Yes you can use your key on the bottom if you have a Vista disc. You can call Acer and request one or call Microsoft and request one. They also charge a small fee.
The last place to buy one is on Ebay, usually the disc alone is $5-10. There used to be a thread on to build Windows Vista on NBR but i'm not sure if those links are dead now, they probably are. -
will any vista version work? like ultimate or premium? also does it matter if I get 64bit or 32bit?
the back of the laptop says: Windows Vista Home Basic OEM

is there somewhere I can download the iso's or installation files for free? I saw the NBR topics for Win7 and winvista legal downloads, but the links for vista don't work.

EDIT
I found this
These are the only official links apparently, The amazon links are dead but Digital river ones work.
You will need to use a download manager to download them as the server terminates the connection after a certain period.

isn't that the win7 download page? I saw the NBR thread for that already. I'm looking for the vista one

Is there not a hidden restore partition on the hard drive?
