i have a copy of office 2003. is it true that i won't be able to load this copy onto vista because vista blocks it? is there anyway around this loophole?

That is completely false. O03 works in Vista perfectly fine if you update it to SP2 for Office. You can install it without SP2, but I'd definitely recommend you update it (Google 'Microsoft Update' to find a program that updates all MS products at one time).

Is this a legal copy? If not, no help here.

And, if it is a legal copy, you also have to have enough licenses to cover installation on another machine. That depends on if you bought licenses or bought the student/teacher version. If you only have one license, you'll need to call MS to inform them that you've removed it from one computer and are putting it on another to get a new license.

And Office 2003 does run on Vista. If a licensed copy doesn't install properly or doesn't function correctly, there is help for that.
