Hi, got a t42 that i use at school. was wondering if there was a program out there that will record lectures, and encode them to a compressed file on the fly.

I used to have a powerbook and Office 2004 had it as a feature (encoded to mp4)

is there one out there for windows?

    Thanks.

I'd take a hard look at Microsoft One Note. It's a great application that will let you take your ntoes in the same file. The audio track and notes are synchronized too, so you can skip to a part in your notes and hear the audio that took place at that time. For students it's nearly free through your bookstore I'm sure. I also think they have a free trial on the microsoft site.

i had a couple friends that experimented with this while i was in law school. they ended up purchasing little digital recorders instead of trying to use their notebooks for the task.

when you first open up office, it has the project gallery, choose notebook (i believe its called). its sort of like OneNote which im trying right now, looks pretty decent. the only thing im afraid of is using my notebooks built in mic.. if im typing it'll probaly pick that sound up alot
