Hi, got a t42 that i use at school. was wondering if there was a program out there that will record lectures, and encode them to a compressed file on the fly.
I used to have a powerbook and Office 2004 had it as a feature (encoded to mp4)
is there one out there for windows?
Thanks.

I'd take a hard look at Microsoft One Note. It's a great application that will let you take your ntoes in the same file. The audio track and notes are synchronized too, so you can skip to a part in your notes and hear the audio that took place at that time. For students it's nearly free through your bookstore I'm sure. I also think they have a free trial on the microsoft site.

Windows Media Encoder will do what you want, free, but may be limited to Windows Media file formats (maybe not...give it a try):

i had a couple friends that experimented with this while i was in law school. they ended up purchasing little digital recorders instead of trying to use their notebooks for the task.
