    I'm having trouble on my ASUS m50sv notebook running windows xp sp3. When i open My Computer and try to double click on a drive instead of bringing up the selcted drive and the folders it displays the 'open with' window and asks to select a program to open with. SO then i use the side bar to explore the drive but if i try and double click on a folder it displays the 'search results' window and asks to start a search.

    I thought it may be a trojan so i ran a scan with avira but nothing showed up. It could possibly be the most annoying computer defect i have come across...possibly.

    any help would be great!

    Start -> Run, type in regsvr32 /i shell32.dll , press ok.

    If that doesn't work, open regedit, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell and ensure that the default value is set to None.
