Right this might be a fairly simple/stupid question (or both!) but I recently got a new printer (kodak 3250) and I when I try printing photos from windows explorer the maximum resolution I can select is 600x600 and its advertised as being able to print at "9,600 dpi for photo lab quality photos" or something along those lines...so how come I cant get it above the 600 res.?
Do I HAVE to use the kodak software because even then I cant find anything about 9600 dpi just "high quality" :/
    cheers

I would imagine you would have to use the Kodak software. It's not all that hard to get used to. There should be a way to use the Windows default program to print at a higher resolution, but the Kodak software is a lot more specialized for your printer. Additionally, do you have the latest drivers?

    600x600 is 9600dpi.

It is just different units. 600x600 sounds little if you are thinking of screen resolution but for printing it is foto quality I think.

Oh really! ok can I just ask how you go about converting them into each other as im guessing its just different units? but thats good news at least if its true! :)

Yeah I had a little play around with the software but nothing said about quality to any extent but if what wave is saying is correct then its not really that much of a problem because its fairly simple and easy to use but I can also use the normal windows software and select 600x600 :D

Oh, I assumed you meant 600x600 pixels and that you already tried printing something with unacceptable print quality.

ahh no. I have printed a few things and they seem to be very good I just thought 600x600 sounded fairly average and I couldn't see how the 9600 number came from 600x600...
